June 12th: Port Orchard Goodwill II

  • 1790 Southeast Mile Hill Drive Port Orchard, WA, 98366 United States (map)

We’re excited to work together on picking up litter from some encampments on private property behind the Goodwill in Port Orchard. We’ve cleaned up here in the past but it has been a couple of years and more people have relied on this property as a refuge with insufficient housing resources throughout Kitsap. At least two people have relocated here since Kitsap County was forced to sweep residents from Veterans Memorial Park at the end of April.

This location also suffers from housed neighbors illegally dumping items that are occasionally not accepted as donations at the Goodwill which means there is plenty to do. Our volunteers always step up in fantastic ways and we’d love to have you join us!

Thank you for your help and compassion :)

If you aren’t able to join us, please consider donating to help feed our volunteers lunch :) Any excess donations will be used to feed volunteers at future events (we aren’t always able to find awesome donors).

VOLUNTEERS RECOMMENDED TO BRING:

  • Mask

  • Sturdy hiking shoes

  • Change of clothes for afterwards

  • Personal Towel (just in case)

  • Your own gloves if you’ve got a pair you like

  • If you bring a camera or plan to use your phone to take pictures, please be very respectful about who and what you snap. We are cleaning around people’s homes so ask before taking a picture of people, tents, or belongings.
